Barbara A. Mansfield

Barbara Mansfield, 72, died at her Sanford home on Thursday, June 24, 2010 after a brief illness.She was born in Boston, MA on February 6, 1938 and at a tender age moved with her family to Queens Borough, Long Island. She graduated from high school and later became an executive secretary at Sol Hurok enterprises. Her employer engaged arts organizations in tours of American cities.In the early 1970's, she met her future husband Gerald, who was a member of the touring Scotch Guards military band. At his retirement, she and Gerald moved to Sanford in 1991. In 2004, he succumbed to prostate cancer.She is survived by a brother, Charles Tuck of Spotsylvania, VA, a nephew, Andrew, a brother-in-law Michael and a stepdaughter Pamela of Melbourne, Australia.There will be no services.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
