Barbara A. LaRose, 65, of Acton died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.Barbara was born in Rochester, New Hampshire on September 3, 1941 to Lawrence and Emeline Hooper. She attended local schools and was a 1960 graduate of Spaulding High School. In 1969 she married her husband, Paul LaRose and in 1970, they moved to Sanford to take care of her father-in-law. She lived in Sanford from that point on until earlier this year when she and her husband moved to Acton to be closer to the grandchildren. Mrs. LaRose worked as a teller at the Pratt & Whitney Credit Union before retiring in 2003 after 20 years of employment.Mrs. LaRose enjoyed knitting and crocheting. In the 1980's, she played Mrs. Santa Claus at Ames Department Store for several seasons. She was nicknamed "Queen" by her family and friends because she enjoyed being catered to. She was a very loving and kind-hearted person. Barbara will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.Surviving are her husband, Paul LaRose, of Acton; three daughters, Wendy Jimmo and her fiancee Jason Averill of Acton, Cathy Dixon and her husband Rick of Knoxville, Tennessee and Kimberly LaRose of Old Orchard Beach; 4 granddaughters, Savannah, Brittin, Darrien and Isabelle; two brothers-in-law, Albert LaRose and his wife Sharon of Lebanon and Leo LaRose, Sr. of Lebanon and several nieces and nephews.A period of visitation will be held at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale on Thursday, November 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 1st at St. George's Episcopal Church, located on Main Street in Sanford.
