Barbara K. Civile

Cape Elizabeth-Barbara K. Civile, 87, formerly of Pleasant Ave, died peacefully on December 15, 2015 at the Barron Center following a long illness. She was born in Biddeford, ME to the late Chester P. Sr. and Margaret A. Brownlee Keefe. She attended local schools and graduated from South Portland High School in the class of 1946. She continued her education at the Northeastern Business School. On November 8, 1957 she married John J. Civile in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Barbara worked at Frost Mimeograph Company for 25 years before its closing. She then went to work as an administrative assistant for Century 21 the Balfour Group, a position which she held for 12 years before retiring in 1996. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, puzzles, camping and following the stock market. Her greatest love, however, was the time she spent surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her husband John J. Civile in 1999; a sister Peggy Warren. She is survived by two daughters; Susan and Butch Turner of Falmouth and Caroline and Perry Pelletier of Scarborough; a brother Chester P. Keefe II of Ogunquit; 7 grandchildren, Scott, Joe, Katie, Meghan, Jim, Samantha, and Abbey; 3 great grandchildren Scott, Matthew, and Ian along with several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, on Monday, December 21, 2015 from10:00 to 11:00am followed by a service at the chapel at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. Susan and Caroline–I am sorry to hear of you loss. Your mother and I used to enjoy cooking dinner for the firemen each month. I was glad she let you come to my Good News Club and also glad she was able to come to our little sing-alongs when she was at Cedars.
