Barbara A. Busby

PORTLAND Ms. Barbara A. Busby, 82, of Portland, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Coastal Manor Health Care in Yarmouth. Born August 8, 1932 in Portland, Barbara was the daughter of the late Joseph and Barbara (Green) Busby. She graduated from Cathedral High School, Class of 1950. Barbara retired from New England Telephone Company after 39 years of employment. She enjoyed spending summers on Peaks Island, and was very proud of her Irish Heritage. Barbara was a lifelong communicant of St. Dominics Parish where she was very active over the years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph Busby, Mary Hanon, John Busby, Richard Busby, Marguerite Payne, James Busby, Arthur Busby, and Thomas Busby. Barbara is survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 3-6PM in the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Prayers will be recited at the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 8:15AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Parish, 65 Mellen Street, Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. i am sorry to hear of Barbara’s passing in Yarmouth at Coastal Manor. I used to see her at the 4:00 pm when she lived at 100 State Street. She was always glad to see you whenever she did.She was inspiring and always fun to be with.I think she will be at the party in heaven.

Barbara was a classmate of mine from the class of 1950 at Cathedral High School, and a loyal friend. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness and kindness. I regret I am not able to attend the wake or funeral.I remember her speaking of family gatherings at Peaks Island. She loved being with her family.
