Barbara Mae Asbury

CAPE ELIZABETH - Barbara Mae Asbury, 88, of Cape Elizabeth, died peacefully, November 28, 2011 at Mercy Hospital. She was born May 30, 1923 in Melrose, Massachusetts, the daughter of William and Mary Alena (Dunne) Doherty. Barbara attended local schools and was a 1941 graduate of St. Mary's High School. She married E. H. Asbury in 1957. Barbara was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Church. She was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed all family gatherings. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her husband Tim, and a daughter, Sandra Asbury Kostopoulos. Surviving are a son, William Jackson of Frisco, TX; three grandchildren, Jessica Kostopoulos of Cape Elizabeth, Peter Kostopoulos of Windham, Anthony Kostopoulos of Sebago; two great grandchildren, Alexia Kostopoulos and Elaina Kostopoulos. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 8:15 a.m., Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the chapel, followed by a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew Church, 8 Two Lights Road, Cape Elizabeth, ME. Interment will be in Riverside Memorial Cemetery, Cape Elizabeth.
