Arthur A. Payeur, Sr.

Portland Arthur A. Payeur, Sr., 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2017 surrounded by his family. Arthur was born in Portland, on March 11, 1939, a son of the late Albert and Rose (Fusco) Payeur. He was raised and spent his youth on Arcadia Street in Portland. Arthur graduated from Portland High School with the Class of 1957. After high school, Arthur attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago and graduated with a degree in Television and Radio Communication in 1961. After graduating Arthur was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably in Fort Knox, Kentucky from 1962-1964. He received training in Armor and became a Drill Sergeant for basic training. After serving his country, Arthur worked for RCA in the Chicago area as a TV repairman for several years. He returned to Maine and opened his own TV repair business, Electroview TV. Arthur was a successful businessman, owning and operating Electroview TV for many years. Every summer, for 29 years, Arthur taught robotics and electronics at the Festival of Creative Youth in South Portland. Arthur greatly enjoyed being a softball umpire for over 35 years and took great pride in his extensive knowledge of the game. He was a member of the Amateur Softball Association for many years. In his free time, he extensively researched family genealogy and enjoyed spending time with his cat, Cuddles, and his birds. Arthur was predeceased by a daughter, Joan Payeur. He is survived by a daughter, Jane P. Baldwin and her husband Page of Florida; three sons, Arthur A. Payeur, Jr. and his wife Renee of Buxton, Andrew V. Payeur and his wife Laura of Washington, Adrian M. Payeur of Portland; a sister, Sharon P. Tanerillo of Florida; a brother, Mike Fusco of Florida; 11 grandchildren - Robert, Jessica, Melissa, Jonathan, Raeanna, Matthew, Tony, Christopher, Marion, Martin, and Marshall; 4 great-grandchildren; and former spouse, Betty Jane Lane of Washington. Arthurs funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 172 State Street, Portland. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Broadway, South Portland. My daughter Marion and I were holding hands with my Dad while he was in Hospice. Six hands were connected to make a complete Direct Electrical Current (DC). Dad’s loves Electronics lingo. Our hands passed our heart beats to each other. It was a Haiku moment and I wrote a Haiku in the Gosnell Hospice Haiku Book. Dear Payeur Family, I stumbled across this obituary and wanted to take a minute to express my deepest sympathy. I met Arthur I believe at The Payeur Family Reunion in Manchester, N.H., my Dad remembered him from his younger years as his granfdather Arthur and my Dad’s Father Come were brothers.
