Arthur R. Hayward
Arthur Raymond Hayward, Sr., 88, of Springvale died on May 5, 2018 at Varney Crossing in North Berwick. He was born on October 31, 1929 to Arthur B. and Lydia (Long) Hayward in Calais.After high school, he enlisted in the US Army July 17th, 1947 and spent 18 months on the island of Luzon, in the Philippines. During his working life, he was a welder, and helped build the original Breakwater Pier in Eastport, Maine. He also worked in many trades including car repair, bridge building.Arthur was truly a jack of all trades, and known for his love of yard sales, and scrap metal work. He spent most of his spare time looking for treasures! He is predeceased by his parents, by the mother of his children, Marie Lois Jollotta, , a son Arthur Hayward Jr., a daughter Rosemary Ernest, He had 2 brothers Sonny and Froggy(George), and 3 sisters Goldie, Beverly Polk, and her husband Raymond. Barbara Porter and her husband Albert, the family lived most of their lives in Eastport, Maine which they always called home, even when they moved away. Arthur is survived by a son Michael Hayward of Ohio, three daughters, Mary Bogan and her friend Wally Rogers of Springvale, Wanda Parent and her husband David of Springvale, Victoria Langlais and her husband Dave of Shapleigh, and grandchildren, Emmy-Lou Sharrow, Jolene Ernest, Joshua Ernest, Christopher Ernest, Ryan Bogan, Connor Bogan, Amy Parent, Elizabeth Parent, Zachary Logan, Dakota West and several great grand children. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Stanley Rd. in Springvale.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence click condolence tab at left.
