Arthur L. Chevalier, 77, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at his home in Sanford. Dad was born in Sanford on June 17, 1943, son of Leo and Annette Martin Chevalier. Dad graduated from St. Ignatius High School and attended college at St. Francis. Dad worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 36 years at Saco Defense. He worked his way up from toolmaker to Chief Engineer and was very proud of the work he did on the redesign of the M60 and M2.50 BMG. While in the employment of Saco Defense he had the opportunity to travel going to many countries in the world. Dad is a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He had been a member for 36 years achieving his 3rd degree level. Dad loved to play practical jokes on family and friends (many, many, jokes). Dad was always enthusiastic to share his experiences and knowledge with family and friends on any topic from religion, cars, mechanical engineering to music and politics (politics more than the rest). Dad and his dear wife of 33 years Arline Chevalier were able to travel the US and the world before Aline preceded him in death in 1998. Dad and Mom had three children. Denise Thalman and her husband Jerry Thalman of Utah, David chevalier and his wife Alice Chevalier of Sanford and Douglas Chavalier and his wife Leila Chevalier of Virginia. Dad enjoyed immensely his five grandchildren Reggie Tuttle and his wife Daniell Tuttle, Allyssa Clark and her husband Tyler Clark, Savannah Thalman of Utah, Erin Chevalier, Cayce Chavalier of Sanford and three great grandchildren, Amber, Abigail and Autumn Tuttle of Utah. Dad was preceded in death by his sisters Dorothy Gilbert and Leona Cote. Dad is survived by his sisters and brother Lorraine Chevalier, Ronald Chevalier and Joyce Cote. All that you have touched will miss you. Love you Dad, Brother, and Friend. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 4th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. 1. Uncle Arthur, you were one of the toughest guys I ever met. I can’t even begin to thank you for the lessons you taught us. From you I learned humor, tenacity, and competence (among other valuable lessons) having you as an Uncle and my Godfather was an honor. Rest In Peace, may God welcome you as a friend. Please give my regards to everyone. ‘Till we meet again.
