Arthur L. Allaire

Arthur L. Allaire, 79 years old, of Sanford, ME died Saturday morning in Sanford at the H.D. Goodall Hospital.Arthur was born on October 18, 1927 in Sanford, ME. He was the son of the late Wilfred and Eva Bernier Allaire. He attended local schools, was a Navy veteran, and for over 20 years he worked for Genest Concrete. Arthur also worked other construction jobs, as well as at the Goodall Mills, and he retired in 1989 from Pizza Gelli Construction.Arthur was a very hard worker, and in his younger years he was a professional boxer, as well as a semi-professional football player. Arthur also donated his time and hard work constructing the Springvale skateboard park. He enjoyed helping out with the Sanford/Springvale Little League, and used to be involved in pony racing at Pinebrook.Surviving is his wife of 59 years Lorraine M. Anderson Allaire of Sanford; two sons, Arthur and Steven Allaire, both of Sanford; a daughter Brenda Witherill of South Portland; two grandchildren, Jill Archambault and Steven Gouin, both of Sanford, and two great-grandchildren, Mark and Alexis Scott. Also surviving are three sister, Gloria St. Pierre of Biddeford, Terri Warriner of Florida, and Margaret Saunders of Washington.A period of visitation for Arthur will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2006 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St. Springvale, ME; where funeral services will be held following visitation at 11:30 AM.In lieu of flowers the Allaire family encourages donations be made in Arthur's honor to the Sanford High School Athletic Boosters, 52 Sanford High School Blvd., Sanford, ME 04073.Services for the Allaire family have been arranged through the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home of Springvale Maine.To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
