Arlene M. Schofield

Cape Elizabeth - Arlene M. Schofield, 72, died on Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
Arlene was born on December 10, 1944, in Waltham, MA, the daughter of the late Robert V. and Arline M. (Townsend) Scalzi. She grew up in Watertown with her brother, Richard and attended local schools. She graduated from Watertown High School, class of 1963.
Arlene was multitalented woman who loved to host family gatherings and holidays. One of her specialties was the seven fish dinner. The Italian cooking she grew up with, as well as her trips to Italy inspired her to write her own cookbook, "The Peasant Gourmet: Mama's Italian Cookbook." Arlene was also an artist and she loved to paint. She even opened her own art gallery. Above all, Arlene loved spending time with her friends and family.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Deborah Hickey and her husband James M. of Essex, MA, Wendy A. Schofield and her longtime companion Serge Safar of Boston, MA, Lynn M. Schofield and her longtime companion Tim Gallager of Cape Elizabeth; brother, Richard J. Scalzi of Sharon, MA; grandchildren, CJ Hickey of Waldoboro, MA and Lauren Hickey of Hamilton, MA; nieces and nephews, Donna Johnson, Matthew Amaru and his wife Amy, Rocco Amaru and longtime companion Maria, Lauren Scalzi; many grand nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Jasper and Merlin.
Visiting hours will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at the Conroy-Tully Walker South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Memorial service will follow at 12:00pm at the funeral home.
