Arlene Yvette Guertin, 64, of Sanford, died on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.Arlene was born in Sanford on June 27, 1947 to Roger and Gertrude (Labbe) Cote and attended local schools. During high school she was active as a cheerleader for both the football and basketball teams. She graduated as valedictorian of the St. Ignatius High School class of 1966. Arlene was employed for 27 years for the Sanford School Lunch Program. Arlene loved spending time outdoors in the summer. She always looked forward to spending holidays with her family, especially Christmas. On Sundays, she enjoyed spending time at her son's home and could often be found outside swimming in the pool. Arlene was an animal lover and was particularly fond of her son's dog Jet, which she affectionately referred to as "Poopie." She was an avid supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital where she had sponsored two children. She will be remembered as a fun loving woman who lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Arlene is survived by her son David Guertin and his fiancee Sandy of Sanford; her mother, Gertrude Cote of Sanford; two siblings, Danny Cote of Sanford and Joanne Bedard and her husband Les of Springvale; two grandchildren, Derek and Kayla Guertin, both of Shapleigh her niece and Goddaughter, Danielle Cote of North Berwick and two nieces, Erin Cote of Portland and Christine Bedard of New Hampshire.Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22nd at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 23rd at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
