Annie H. Knox
Annie Holdsworth Knox, 88, of Sanford, died on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Langdon Place in Dover. Annie was born in Sanford on August 14, 1921 to James and Ethel (Taylor) Holdsworth who had emigrated from England to the United States and settled in Sanford. She attended local schools and went on to work in the mills following high school. In 1970 she married Perley E. Knox and the couple would spend the next 36 years together until Perley's death in 2006.Annie was an avid reader and had a very large collection of books. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She never had a driver's license so she would walk wherever she wanted to go. She and her husband enjoyed visiting the Trafton Senior Center and the Christian Science Reading Room. She also enjoyed it when she and her husband would go on long Sunday drives. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Annie is survived by a stepson, Tim Knox and his wife Marjorie of Springvale; two nieces, Nancy Holdsworth of Rochester, NH and Sharon Abbott of Somersworth, NH; two great nephews, Brian Holdsworth and his wife Marjorie of Barrington, NH and Michael Abbott and his wife Tracy of Waterboro; two great-nieces, Stephanie Foglio and her husband Dale of Waterboro and Michelle DePeter of Waterboro and nine great-great nieces and nephews.Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 23rd with a funeral following at 12:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale.
