SOUTH PORTLAND - Annette K. Kilroy, 89, of Red Oak Drive, died Friday, March 16, 2012, at South Portland Nursing Home. She was born in Somersworth, New Hampshire, on March 16, 1923, a daughter of William E. Sr. and Hazel (Kinsman) Kennedy. She graduated from Somersworth High School, class of 1941. Annette was raised in a loving home by her maternal grandparents following her mother's death. As a child she worked at her grandfather's store, Kinsman Market, in Somersworth, and helped to support her large extended family. She married William C. Kilroy, in Dover, Hew Hampshire, on June 21, 1947. She worked as a telephone operator and supervisor in Dover, NH, and later in Brunswick, Maine. She lived in Rumford for ten years due to William's employment and then the family moved to Portland. Annette possessed a genuine interest and concern for people. She would inquire into others' lives and well-being and sincerely listen to the response. She remained young at heart and enjoyed all types of music, especially Elvis and the Irish Tenors. She was active in parish life at Holy Cross Church and volunteered at Holy Cross School teaching first grade catechism and listening to first grade readers. She was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella in Rumford, Women of Rotary in Portland, and South Portland High School Band Boosters. She is predeceased by a brother, William E. Kennedy Jr.; and a sister, Marilyn Brackett. She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Kilroy of South Portland; a granddaughter, Christina L. S. Kilroy, of South Portland; a grandson, Sean J. Salisbury of Buxton; a brother, Frank M. Kennedy and his wife Doris of Rochester, New Hampshire; and two sisters, Alice Dreinczyk of Bow, New Hampshire, and Jacquelyn Michel and her husband Leo Sr. of Rochester, New Hampshire; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 4:00 -7:00 pm, Monday, March 19, 2012, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024, Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 10:15 am, Tuesday, at the Chapel, followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, Corner of Cottage Road and Broadway, South Portland. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a date to be announced.Online condolences may be expressed below.
