Westbrook- Anne Marie Aube Kilmartin, 79, of Westbrook died peacefully at home with her loving family at her side following a long illness. She was born on August 26, 1939 to Dorothy Rand and Hormidas J. (Husky) Aube of Westbrook.
She attended St. Mary's Grammar School and graduated from Westbrook High School and Westbrook Junior College before taking a job at the S.D. Warren Research Laboratory. In 1965, Anne married the love of her life, Michael Kilmartin and together they raised a close-knit, loving family.
Anne loved her hometown and was proud to have been known as "Husky Aube's kid". She spoke fondly of growing up in a neighborhood where no one locked their doors, as well as her summers spent climbing trees and canoeing at the family camp on Panther Pond.
Anne was an avid reader, a love she shared with her husband and one she passed on to both of her daughters. A devout Catholic, she especially enjoyed reading about the lives of saints with Padre Pio and Francis of Assisi being two of her particular favorites.
She loved to knit and work on crafts of all kinds. She spent many hours with her own mother creating fabric wreaths and Christmas ornaments that her family will now cherish.
Anne and Mike enjoyed vacationing together, most notably their 50th anniversary cruise, a visit to Savannah, and trip to Spokane, Washington where they traveled to meet their first grandson. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who liked nothing more than having the family spend time together at home, telling stories, eating favorite foods and laughing.
Anne was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Joseph Aube of Westbrook. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Michael Kilmartin; daughters, Cathy and her husband Paul Krusiec of Portland and Laura of Westbrook; grandsons, Matthew and Michael Krusiec, several nieces and nephews and dear friends and neighbors.
