Anita C. Kallis

Anita C. Sullivan Kallis, 86, of Sanford, died Monday at the Newton Center in Sanford. She was born in Sanford on February 2, 1922, the daughter of William and Cecelia (Bouchard) Bourque. Mrs. Kallis attended Portland and Sanford schools and Sanford High School. She lived in Sanford most of her life but did live in Portland for eight years.She was employed by the former Papas Dress Shop and later at Thayer Diggery Clothing store for eleven years retiring from there in 1970. Mrs. Kallis was a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church. She enjoyed knitting and quilting. Her children said her greatest joy as a grandmother was the unconditional love she was able to show her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Kallis was predeceased by her first husband John Sullivan who died in 1966 and her second husband Leonard Kallis in 1996.Survivors are her daughter Jo-Ann Kallis and her husband Alan of No. Berwick, her two sons John Sullivan and his wife Terry and Gary Sullivan and his wife Lorraine all of Sanford, her two sisters, Shirley Clark of Auburn and Marlene Cyr of Sanford, her brother Patrick Bourque of Sanford, her seven grandchildren Jason and Jamie Sullivan, Mathew and Michael Kallis, Melissa Kallis Burr, Shawn Sullivan and Kelly Shafer and her eleven great grandchildren Jordyn and Jacob Sullivan ; Hannah, Olivia, Isabelle and Lily Kallis ; Nikolas and Troy Kallis ; Graydon Kallis Burr, Madeline Sullivan and Rowen Shafer.Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 :30 AM Thursday in St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church.
