CarpentierSanford, ME Andre Roger Carpentier, 80 years old of Sanford, ME, died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME.Mr. Carpentier was born on May 23, 1926 in Sanford, ME. He was the son of the late Leon and Valerie (Richer) Carpentier. He attended local schools, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Upon his return to the United States, Mr. Carpentier began a career as a bonder at the Brooks and Goodall Textile Mills. He was a very dedicated employee that worked there for over 40 years until his retirement. Following retirement from the mills, Mr. Carpentier worked part time at Bonanza in Sanford.Mr. Carpentier enjoyed the outdoors when he was younger. He liked to fish and hunt. Later in life he turned to more indoor activities such as woodworking and playing cards.Years ago the Carpentier family owned a camp on Shaker Pond in Alfred, and there the family would spend the summers swimming, boating, fishing, and creating the memories that will be shared for generations.Mr. Carpentier was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Ignatius Church of Sanford, now part of St. Therse Parish of Sanford.Predeceasing Mr. Carpentier were two brothers, Joseph H. and Aldas A. Carpentier, and a sister Pauline C. O'Connor.Surviving is his wife of over 57 years Rose (Hamel) Carpentier of Sanford, a brother Raymond Carpentier of Sanford, a brother-in-law Joseph O'Connor of Vermont, and a sister-in-law Julia Carpentier of Sanford. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours For Mr. Carpentier will be held this Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St. Sanford, ME. A 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2007 at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church in Sanford.Services have been arranged through the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home of Sanford, Maine.To leave the family a message of condolence please use the "condolences" tab to the left.
