Aline L. Normandeau
Aline LaChance Normandeau, 89, of Shapleigh, passed away on Wednesday Janaury 22, 2014 at the Pavilion in Sanford. She was born on February 10, 1924, one of nine children to Joseph and Jenney (Desharnais) LaChance. She attended St. Ignatius School.Aline married Raymond Normandeau on June 26, 1948 in a double wedding ceremony including Irene LaChance and Leon Tanguay at St. Ignatius Church.She worked at the former Goodall Sanford Mills as a mender for 15 years until its closing. A subsequent job as a stitcher at Aletta Dress Shop in Springvale furnished Aline with the talent and interest in sewing which remained prevalent throughout her life. She was one of the first Sanford residents to apply and become hired by Sprague Electric when they relocated to Sanford in 1967. She held various positions before retiring in 1986 after 20 years of service.She was a communicant of Holy Family Church for 43 years before moving to the Mousam Lake area in Shapleigh in 1994. During her retirement years she devoted herself to family and home. There was no task she would not tackle. She found much enjoyment in all arts and crafts, excelling in woodworking, and as well known for her handmade birdhouses. Her braided rugs won her four blue ribbons.She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond who passed away in 2012, one son, David who passed away in 1963 as well as her brothers and sisters.She is survived by her daughters, Janie Marie Normandeau of Springvale and Cindy Normandeau of Sanford, one grandson, David Joseph Emmons and his wife, Michaela, one great granddaughter, Lily Emmons.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday January 29th at 10AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
