Alice B. Pomeroy

Alice B. Pomeroy, 86, of Butler Street in Springvale, died on Wednesday June 23, 2005 after a long illness at the Sanford Healthcare Facility. She was born in Burlington, Vermont on March 8, 1919, the first child of Dorothy Smith and Earl Bullock. The family later moved to Massachusetts where she spent much of her life before moving to Maine in 1989.Alice lead a varied life much of the time focused on helping others in many ways. She worked in a nursing home for several years and was very active in Girl Scouting for about 35 years. In 1964 she met a teacher and philospher and in the many years since has helped others learn more of the 'Universal Law', travelling in the United States and Japan while sharing her writings there and in other countries of the world.Alice loved the out of doors, gardening and cultivating indoor and outdoor flowers. Her having a green thumb like no other helped a gerat deal in these endeavers. Alice hiked the many hills and mountains of New England, especially Vermont and was a life member of the green Mountain club in Vermont. A staunch christian in her earlier years she shared her voice and love of music with many by singing in church and community choirs as recently as the turn of the century.She is predeceased by her husband of many years, Alden Wesley Pomeroy, her parents, and a younger brother, James Bullock. She is survived by two sons, Paul Pomeroy and his wife, Lauris of Springvale,Maine and Allan Pomeroy and his wife, Beth of Baldwinsville, NY, a granddaughter, Monique Pomeroy of Old Orchard Beach, Maine. she is also survived by her sisters, Mary Cook and her husband, William of Naples, FL, Lila Blechman and her husband, Shelly of Nobleboro, Maine, Ruth Seidel of North Hampton, NH, Louise Cartier and her husband, Richard of Peterborough, NH, and a brother, Robert Bullock of Manchester, NH, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to gather for a period of visitation with the family on Monday June 27 starting at 6pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 7pm at the LaFrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home 29 Winter Street, Sanford, Maine.Those wishing to may make donations in her memory to the GMC (Green Mountain Club) Long Trail Protection Fund 4711 Waterbury Stowe Road Waterbury Center, VT 05677.To send the family a note of condolence, please return to the "condolence" icon at the top left of this page.
