Alice Gertrude Morrill, 88, longtime resident of Limerick and most recently of Alfred, passed away on Friday August 31, 2007 at the Greenwood Center Nursing Home in Sanford. Born in Limerick on June 11, 1919, she was a daughter of Frank and Ida Chick.She attended local schools. Alice was a dedicated worker, working for many years at the Limerick Yarn Mill and with the Green Thumb Program at the Limerick Elementary School. She also worked at Universal Shoe in Sanford and volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program in Buxton.She enjoyed making a home for her family and was a very talented cook, she especially enjoyed knitting and making apple pies. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with her family and grandchildren.She is predeceased by her first husband, Robert H. Thorne, her second husband, Franklin Morrill, two sisters, Florence Maddox and Isabel Warren. She is survived by her longtime companion of 24 years, Loren Libby of Alfred, three sons, Harold Thorne of Epping, NH, Thurland "Peanut" Thorne of Newfield and Arthur "Peter" Morrill of Limerick, six daughters, Joanne Colby of Limerick, Linda Morrill of Sanford, Phyllis (Thorne) Bond of Sunapee, NH, Barbara Brophy of Newmarket, NH, Diana St. Hilaire of Hollis Center and Beverly of Florida as well as many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.Visiting hours will be on Tuesday September 4th from 6 to 8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am.
