Alice A. Guillemette
Alice A. Guillemette, 89, of Sanford, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at the Greenwood Center in Sanford. She was born in Bromptonville, P.Q., Canada, on January 24, 1918, a daughter of Damase and Laura (Grondin) Allaire.Mrs. Guillemette came to Sanford when she was three years old. She attended Holy Family and Emerson schools. A lifelong communicant of Holy Family Catholic Churh she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne as well as the Daughters of Isabella. Over the years she had worked at Universal Shoe, Guillemette Brothers Chicken Farm and finally retired from the Sanford High School Department where she had worked in Food Service. For over 25 years, along with her husband Gerard, she travelled all over the country and abroad, attending many car shows and wintering in Florida. She was a collector of Avon and Jim Beam Bottles. She also enjoyed beano, cards and crochetting.She is predeceased by her husband, Gerard J. Guillemette who passed away on December 15, 2002, one grandson, Ronald Turmelle, brothers and sisters, Laurette Aceto, Robert Allaire, Raymond Allaire, Rose Plante, Pauline Harmon, Rita Nadeau and Lucille Chretien.She is survived by her children, Rene Guillemette and his wife, Peggy of Sanford, Claire Sessions and her husband, Donald of Sanford, Doris Tyger of Sanford, Susan Murphy and her husband, John of Sanford, two brothers, Lionel Allaire and Joseph Norman Allaire, two sisters, Lorraine (Lavertu) Laitres and Doris Daigle, seven grandchildren, Dickie Turmelle, Cathy Woodman, Karen Bouchard, Michael and Scott Guillemette, Renee Lee Crochet, Stephen Carigan, 11 great grandchildren, Shawn Mathieu, Jason and Sarah Turmelle, Nathan, Nicholas, and Matthew Guillemette, Gaven Curtis and Kailey Margaret Crochet, Joshua Guillemette, Brad and Laura Bouchard.Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 10th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11am at St. Therse of Lisieux-Holy Family Church in Sanford.
