Scarborough - Alice J. Falcone, 85, a beautiful, feisty, red-headed Irish-American with a very big laugh, left this earth on September 26, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of South Portland, Maine. Alice was one of six children born to Martin H. and Margaret Curran Lydon on July 18, 1931. Alices life centered on her family, faith and her community. She was educated at Cathedral High School, class of 1949, and was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. In 1954, she married her husband of 54 years, James J. Falcone, a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Together they raised their three daughters, Kimberly, Colleen and Lisa, otherwise known as the girls. Primarily a homemaker, Alice also managed a crew of women who calculated inventories for large department stores. Later in life, she became interested in antiquing and ran her own antique business until her early eighties. Alice was an avid bridge player and golfer and a longtime member of Purpoodock Golf Club. She loved the ocean and spent many summer days with family and friends at Jordans Beach. Above all else, she cared for her family and friends. She was a very proud and loving grandmother to seven grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her husband, parents and siblings, Walter, Henry and John Lydon and Mary Johnson. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Schroeter of Saco and Rockport, ME, Colleen and William Staszko of Scarborough, ME, and Lisa and Tristram Coffin of Shelburne, VT; her grandchildren, Derek Schroeter, Megan Higgins and husband John, James and Jack Staszko, and Samuel, Emily and Nathaniel Coffin; a sister, Carolyn Lydon; and brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Joanne Falcone, and sister-in-law, Susan Falcone. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the remarkable staffs of Scarborough Terrace and Compassus Hospice for the love, care and dignity they provided our mother until the end of her life. Interment will be private at Highland Memorial Cemetery, South Portland. To view Alices memorial page, or to share an online condolence, please visit www.ConroyTullyWalker.com. May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, The rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. ~Traditional Irish Blessing

  2. Kim, Colleen, and Lisa, Condolences to you and all the family. We are thinking of you and are glad Aunt Alice is at peace, re-joined with your Dad. As a Jolly girl, I remember all the fun and laughter with you ‘girls’ on Stanley Street! Your Mom’s laughter was always ringing above the noise we created. Though raising our family—and now time with Grands—has kept us all busy, we think fondly of times spent together and news of you all doing well! God bless, love, Linda and Mike
