Alexina L. Barnett

Alexina L. Barnett, 81, of Sanford, died at her home on September 24, 2013.Alexina was born in Lewiston on December 19, 1931 to Arthur and Rosilda (Labbe) Guay. She grew up in Alfred where she attended local schools. In 1964 she married R. Bruce Barnett and together they raised three children and shared 23 years of marriage until his death in 1987.Alexina enjoyed shopping, gardening and visiting the monastery in Kennebunk. Family was the most important thing in her life and she always made spending time with them a priority. She was a devout Catholic and had been a communicant of St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.Surviving are three children, William Barnett and his wife Tammy of Abilene, Texas, Ronald Barnett, Jr. of Lebanon and Laurie Barnett of Sanford; six grandchildren, Cheryl Schiefers and her husband Johnny of Abilene, Texas, Amanda Moore and her husband Tom of Abilene, Texas, Marybeth Guynn of Connorsville, Pennsylvania, Jordan Barnett and his wife Jessica of San Angelo, Texas, Richard Barnett of Sanford and Samantha Barnett of Sanford; seven great-grandchildren; three siblings, Edmund Guay and his wife Alice of Sanford, Terry Bastarache of Biddeford and Donald Guay and his wife Nanette of Virginia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 27th at St. Therse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford.
