Alexander Gewlas
Alexander "Andy" G. Gewlas III, 28, of Shapleigh, died on Friday, March 6, 2009 in Shapleigh.Andy was born in Haverhill, MA on October 4, 1980 to Alexander Gewlas, Jr. and Linda Boudreault Gewlas. When he was young, his family moved to Shapleigh, Maine where he attended local schools and graduated from Massabesic High School in 1999. He attended the Sanford Regional Vocational Center. A hard worker, Andy owned and operated his own business, A. G. Construction.Living his life as an outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed snowmobiling, kayaking, riding dirt bikes, fishing, and hiking. A lover of animals, he cared for his pet snakes, turtles, and birds. An avid motorcyclist, Andy won many different motorcycle competitions, and was very proud of his Harley Davidson. Andy loved visiting Florida, especially the Keyes. A happy person with an engaging smile, Andy enjoyed his many friends, helping and working with them on numerous projects. Andy had been a member of the United Methodist Church in Newfield. He will be remembered as a kind and loving son, grandson, brother, and friend. A joy to be around, his family and friends will dearly miss Andy.Surviving are his mother, Linda Gewlas of Marathon, FL; his father, Alexander Gewlas, Jr, and his stepmother Anita of Shapleigh; his sister, Crystal Gewlas and her fiancee Clarence of Gouldsboro, ME; his grandmother, Doris Boudreault of Haverhill, MA; his grandfather, Arthur Boudreault of San Jose, CA; his long time friend, Jennifer Morse of Lewiston, ME; his bird, Nina and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.Visiting hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, ME. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 11th. Interment will be at the Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill, MA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Outward Bound, P.O. Box 62161, Baltimore, MD 21264-2161.
