Albert Warren Kelloway, 95, a resident of Shapleigh, Maine for the past 28 years, and formerly of Georgetown, MA, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at the Greenwood Center in Sanford, Maine. He was born on July 8, 1914 in Perry's Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, a son of the late George H. and Eugenie (Noseworthy) Kelloway. He was orphaned as a young teen and completed schooling in 1925. Later he was employed in agriculture, metal fabrication, and welding at the Boston Naval Shipyard. Albert married Elnah Beyea on his 21st birthday in Salem, NH. Together they purchased and built a variety store/ service station business, and worked those long hours for 37 years. Vacations were few and far between, but the rewards and relationships were worth it.Mr. Kelloway was devoted to his family. He was determined to work long and hard to assure his children and grandchildren educational and social experiences as well as opportunities for spiritual development well beyond the norm. He repeatedly helped others financially and physically without fanfare or public notice. He was blessed with a faithful life partner and many devoted family members and friends. His sense of humor is legendary, yet his commitment to Christ was clearly displayed for all to see.In the 1980's, Mr. and Mrs. Kelloway retired to Mousam Lake in Shapleigh, Maine. They attended First Baptist Church and eagerly participated in many activities there. Neighbors and friends were important to him to the end. He cared for his wife through her final days, until her death in 2004, then enjoyed the company of a special lady, Mabel Wyman until her home going in 2008.Special thanks are extended to all who participated in his care at the Greenwood Center during this past year.Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Dubin of Monterey, TN, a son, Randall Kelloway of Wales, Maine, four grandchildren, Debbie Clymer and Greg Smith of West Hartford, CT, and Rachel and Richard Kelloway of Wales, Maine. There are many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Albert was predeceased by five brothers in the US and Canada.Friends and family are invited to call on Friday, May 14th from 5 to 8PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine. A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Shapleigh on Saturday at 11AM followed by light refreshments. A graveside service will take place on Monday, May 17th at 12 noon at the Harmony Cemetery in Georgetown, MA. Following the graveside service, a time of fellowship will be held at the New Life Community Church, East Main Street, Georgetown, MA.
