SANFORD – Agnes F. Jones, 87, passed away on Saturday September 13th at her home at The Lodges Assisted Living Center.
Born in Rollinsford, NH, Agnes met a young Harold Jones at the age of 18—a meeting that blossomed into a loving 60-year marriage. Together, they built a family that includes two children, Kathy and her significant other Michael Griffin and Mark and his wife Barb, and four cherished grandchildren: Zach, Travis, Chris, and Jo.
Agnes was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold in 2001 and her grandson Zach in 2020. She is survived by her daughter Kathy and Kathy’s partner, Griff; grandson Travis and his wife, Aimee; Zach’s wife, Candice, and their children, Owen and Cooper; her son Mark and his wife, Barb, along with their children, Chris and Jo.
Beyond her immediate family, Agnes is survived by countless others who loved her—enough to fill a football stadium. Her life was guided by a few powerful principles: unwavering faith, boundless love, contagious joy, and tireless enthusiasm.
There wasn’t much that Agnes loved more than time at the beach and her favorite food – lobster but at the pinnacle of what made her come alive was the love of people. She dedicated her career to serving others, working in elder care at various nursing home facilities. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel valued. Regardless of whose path she may cross and where she may cross it she was always open to a conversation filled with warmth and sincerity. She had a rare ability to brighten any room and leave people better than she found them.
Her compassion wasn’t surface level—it was deeply genuine. Agnes spoke with kindness, carried herself with grace, and lived a life anchored in faith. Her presence was transformative, and she was an everyday example of love in action.
She read the Bible cover to cover many times and lived out its most central teachings: to love God and to love others. In doing so, she became a living testament to the heart of Christianity—a mirror reflecting God’s love to everyone she met.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday September 20th from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral ceremony immediately following at 11 a.m. at the North Lebanon Second Baptist Church, 259 Bakers Grant Road, North Lebanon, ME.
