SOUTH PORTLAND - Adrian Daigle, 93, of Roger Road, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at South Portland Nursing Home. He was born in Portage on September 19, 1918, a son of Rene and Odelie (Duprey) Daigle. During the Great Depression he served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines and Pacific theater. Adrian worked 37 years for the railroad before his retirement. He married Violet E. Blanchette on June 18, 1947, in Waterville. Adrian enjoyed square and round dancing, and staying busy working around his home and camp at Peabody Pond. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and provided many years of home care to Violet during her extended illness. He is predeceased by his wife who died March 31, 2010; four brothers, Ivan, Edmond, Pitt, and Hampy Daigle; three sisters, Edwidge Moody, Mildred Michaud, and Emelda Daigle; and son in law, Frederick Brown. He is survived by two sons, Gary R. Daigle and his wife Angela of Orlando, Florida and Jeffery P. Daigle and his wife Katherine of Windham; two daughters, Sandra J. Brown of Cape Elizabeth and Karen A. Bernard of St. Cloud Florida; seven grandchildren, Sherri Barrett, Kenneth A. Brown, Robert and Linda Bernard, David Daigle, James and Andrew Daigle; and seven great-grandchildren; Brandon, Selby and Courtney Barrett, Morgan and Nathan Brown, and Jessica and Alexandra Violet Daigle. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at South Portland Nursing Home for the skilled and compassionate care provided to Adrian. Visiting hours will be held 4:00 - 7:00 pm, Sunday, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 10:15 am Monday, at the Chapel, followed by an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, corner of Cottage Road and Broadway, South Portland. Burial will follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.Online condolences may be expressed below.
