Aaron Richard Jagger, 48, of Lewiston, died on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Aaron was born on June 19, 1974, in Sanford, to parents Richard and Elizabeth Jagger. Aaron spent his younger years biking, sailing, and hiking in the greater Sanford area. Aaron did karate, was a member of the Titan Swim team, and enjoyed being a part of the Springvale First Baptist Church where he attended Sunday school and youth group (BYF) activities. Aaron participated in Scouting as a member of Troop 327 and the Criminal Justice Explorer Post, and earned the highest rank, Eagle Scout. Scouting was always special to Aaron, it guided his moral code and it was something he shared with his son, Benjamin over the last few years. Aaron graduated from Sanford High School and went on to earn an Associate of Culinary Arts degree from Southern Maine Community College. He was a jack of all trades, he worked as a chef at a number of local fine dining restaurants, picked apples at McDougal Orchards, cooked at Camp Hinds for the Boy Scouts, sold cars, served as chef for Long Creek correctional center, was a pest control consultant for Orkin, worked as a security guard for Securitas and as a commercial baker at LePage Bakeries. Aaron was most proud of his son, Benjamin Jagger. Some of his favorite things were taking Ben to the lake in the summer and making pizza with interesting toppings (SlimJims and pickles anyone?) together on the weekends. Everyone who knew Aaron knew he was quick witted with a great sense of humor, he always had a joke up his sleeve and a smile on his face. He was always thinking of the future and constantly researching new ideas and projects. He loved animals, especially Hansel the German Shepherd, Dusty the cat and His Pug, Frodo. He is survived by his son, Benjamin Jagger and former wife Holly Jagger of Orlando, FL, his parents Richard and Elizabeth Jagger of Shapleigh, his brother Robert (Corinne) Jagger of Saco and countless friends and family. A celebration of life will be held in his honor at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Springvale, 429 Main Street, Springvale, ME. A reception will be held in the church hall following the celebration of life. Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I met Aaron in college where we attended cooking school together. We became friends, often hanging out on weekends and he would go shopping with me. I recall one shopping adventure. I needed to find a dress. He made suggestions on likes and dislikes and then said, “Just remember to tally this. I make good boyfriend material.”
He was always smiling and could always make you smile.
We connected a few times over the years via text and chat. It was clear he remained the same funny quick witted man. I will miss his messages and his smile.

  2. Aaron was a creative soul. Always thinking, planning, and dreaming. He was always quick with a witty comeback and an inappropriate joke. His smile lit up the room, and he was always smiling. He will be missed.

  3. My condolences to all who loved him. He was a ray of sunshine to me, and the world feels like a darker place without him. In his honor I’m going to live to my best potential and not let self-doubt
or abusers get me down. I still hear his encouragement ringing in my ears. Rest easy good friend.

  4. My Dear Sweet Friend,
No words will ever express the blessing your friendship has brought me. A true gentleman, a man that could tell stories and share me memories like no other. From tears of joy to tears of sadness and then the silliness in-between. Thank you for being my friend.
…as you called me “your little cousin”

  5. Aaron and I met on a dating app. Became fast friends. He was kind, sweet, and funny. To his family – I am so sorry for your loss.
