David Charles Stanley

David C. Stanley Jr., 69, of Sanford, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 29, 2024. David was born on February 12, 1955, in Portland, to Charlene Gray and David Stanley Sr. He grew up in North Windham, where he attended local schools and graduated from North Windham High School. Following high school, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country for 12 years. David had a creative side and enjoyed drawing with colored pencils, charcoal, and pencil. He also collected vintage toys and spent time playing games on his phone. A homebody at heart, David valued his solitude but was also known for his dependability. He was a reliable prep cook and all-around helper at Mel's Raspberry Patch. His early mornings, preparing the restaurant for the day, will be deeply missed by his coworkers and friends. David is predeceased by his mother, Charlene Gray; stepfather, Alfred A. Morrell Jr.; and nephews, Michel A. Bernard, and Richard Bernard. He is survived by his sisters, Melodie Bernard and her husband Archer of Sanford, and Laurie Knight and her husband Bill of Sanford, as well as several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. Burial will take place a Hillside Cemetery in Gorham in the spring.
