Resided in: Shapleigh, Maine

Lorraine J. Rodrigue, 85, of Shapleigh, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Born in Sanford, Maine, on September 5, 1939, Lorraine was one of ten children born to Albert and Irene (Allaire) Hupe. She grew up in Sanford, attending local schools. After the untimely death of her parents when she was just 17, Lorraine selflessly dedicated herself to raising her younger siblings. In 1959, Lorraine married Donald Rodrigue, and together they built a beautiful family, raising five children and sharing 56 years of marriage until Donald's passing in 2015. Lorraine devoted her life to nurturing and caring for her family. As her children grew older, she began working at Greenwood Nursing Home, where she stayed for many years before retiring. Lorraine enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, crocheting, and tending to her flower gardens. She found great joy in crocheting blankets, which she lovingly gave to family and friends. Lorraine was also an excellent cook, known for preparing delicious meals, especially during the holidays, when she delighted her family with turkey, pork pies, and her famous cookies, whoopie pies, and pudding. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Lorraine was meticulous in keeping her home and always stood by her husband's side, helping him with any project he undertook. Though quiet by nature, Lorraine had a wonderful sense of humor and brought joy and laughter to those around her. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, which she would frame and proudly display. Lorraine's love, devotion, and quiet strength will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her and she will be dearly missed. Lorraine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Donald Rodrigue; her son, Ronald Rodrigue; her parents, Albert and Irene Hupe; and four siblings, Shirley Benoit, Donald Hupe, Real Hupe, and Albert Hupe Jr. She is survived by her four children: Jim A. Rodrigue of Wells; Dan D. Rodrigue and his wife Beverly of Lebanon; Patricia I. Margolis of Shapleigh; and Andy E. Rodrigue and his fiancée Kelly A. Weymouth of Shapleigh. Lorraine was also blessed with five grandchildren: Kristen, Kevin, Chantal, Michelle, and Tasha; 11 great-grandchildren; and five siblings: Richard Hupe, Maurice Hupe, Sandra Bicknell, Nancy Townsend, and Michael Hupe. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a funeral service following at 1:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will be held afterward at the St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford. Arrangements are under the care of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.

  12. Dear Aunty, I just visited you on March 4th of 2024. You allowed me to take pictures of you & I together in addition to photographs of you with your amazing afghans. You even gave me the grand tour of your yarn room. I took a video of you talking about how you talk to your plants and tell then that it is time to make the flower’s and then the next day the plants (Christmas cactus) produced buds. You then said that you had to tell the buds that “its time to open up”…I am glad you spent that time with me as it was a very magical moment. I made copies of those pictures of that day together… and I had plans of sending you those copies. I am sorry I never sent them to you along with the card that I bought from Hallmark for you. I have no excuse other than I wanted to hand deliver them to you in person instead. I did get your address from Uncle Moe so I could mail the pictures to you of our special day together. ❤️ 💙 💜…I will put one in a frame and place it on my bookshelf so I can talk to you everyday. Please watch over us and know that you are loved and I am happy you are in Heaven now with your husband and your son and your mom & dad. You sure did provide a lot of beautiful childhood memories for my younger sister, Lynn, and my big brother, Tony. You would spoil us every time we visited you in Shapleigh Maine. I will cherish those childhood memories forever

  13. Dear Aunty, your laughter will live on in the spirit of all those lives whom you have touched with your joy to love unconditionally.

  14. Aunt Lorraine loved to assemble puzzles and glue them together and put the finished products in a frame. Your entire 2 car garage was wall to wall with your creations.
