Lorraine C. Ashworth, 93, of Sanford, passed away on January 27, 2025, at Avita of Wells. She was born in Sanford, on April 11, 1931, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Aurore (Dube) St. Laurent.
Lorraine graduated high school at the Presentation of Mary Academy. She raised her family in Sanford, before moving to Teaticket, MA, where she and Jim built their dream home. She enjoyed flower gardening, singing, dancing, reading, and travel. Before retiring, Lorraine worked at the Falmouth Town Hall and the Falmouth Public Library. She was an active member of the St. Ignatius Church in Sanford, and St. Anthony’s Church on the Cape. She moved back to Maine in 2023, to be closer to family.
Lorraine is predeceased by her husband, James G. Ashworth, her sisters Sister Jeanne d’Arc St. Laurent and Sister Rita St. Laurent, and her brothers Lionel St. Laurent and Roger St. Laurent.
She is survived by her sisters Madeline Bucklin of Sanford, ME, Claire Guillemette of York, ME, and Louise Thibaudeau of Milton, NH. Lorraine has three daughters, Joan Ashworth-Wulf and Laurie Ashworth, both of Salem, OR, and Elizabeth Chase of Wells, Maine, as well as two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Prayers will be said during a mass at St. Theresa Parish of Holy Family Church, and a private graveside service will be held in the spring, at the St. Ignatius Cemetery.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the Beacon Hospice team for the compassion, kindness, and dedicated care provided to our mother, and to our family, during this difficult time.

We had so much fun in Sorority. Our programs, meetings, social life, conventions and our trips to New York We would be roommates. I cherish the memories. Linda Dutch and your Sanford Beta Sigma Phi friends. Rest in Peace my friend.
