Ernest “Ernie” J. Pontbriand, at the age of 77, passed away on October 27, 2023, at Pinnacle Health and Rehab in Sanford Maine from failing health. Born on April 30, 1946, in Georgetown, MA, the son of the late Alfred and Caroline (Bevelaqua) Pontbriand. Ernie had many careers, Suncook Tannery, Tiara Footwear and The Concord Monitor, just to list a few. You could always find Ernie with a huge smile, laughing or telling a joke. Ernie loved spending time playing games with his family. Watching WWE, the Syfy channel and singing along to Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley are just a few of his favorite things. Ernie is preceded in death by his brothers Norman Pontbriand, Richard Pontbriand, and Mark Pontbriand; and his sister-in-law Sandra Pontbriand and brother-in-laws Harry Bryant and Robert Wasson. He is survived by his brother Melvin Pontbriand, his sisters Carole George and husband Max; Jane Archambault and husband Kenneth; Polly Bryant; Brenda Wasson; Jeannette Adams and husband Kenneth; his special friend Barbara Seppela; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Services will be held at the Nottingham Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation to the American Heart Association can be made in his name. The Pontbriand family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Pinnacle Health and Compassus Hospice for all the love they gave him.
