Elaine M. Smith

Elaine M. Smith 1947 – 2023 Elaine M. Smith of Wells, Maine died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday March 16, 2023 at her home in at the age of 75 and is now in the arms of the Lord. Elaine was born in Sanford, ME on April 28, 1947 the daughter of the late Wallace and Alida (Doiron) Morgan. She was a devout churchgoer, and a parishioner of St. Mary’s church in Wells, ME for over 50 years. Elaine was predeceased by her husband Robert G. Smith in 1971; her son, Timothy R. Smith and her sister, Sandra O’Brien. Elaine is survived by her beloved daughter Carolyn M. Drew, her husband Ray Drew from Middletown, CT and their four children; Nicholas Drew who resides in Washington DC, Ashleigh Drew-Barrera who is residing in Las Vegas, NV; Amber Drew stationed in Australia and Kaylee Drew in Middletown CT. She is also survived by Gary Poulin, who cared for her for almost 50 years and her brothers Richard and Stephen Morgan and her grandchild Michael Smith of Vermont. Elaine cared deeply for her family and friends and their company she truly enjoyed. Her biggest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo and her visits to Connecticut. She was a devoted “Cat Mom” to Boots who brought her companionship to her life. She looked forward to her daily calls to her daughter and ended every call with “tell the kids I love them”. Her smile and laughter will be forever missed. As we celebrate Elaine’s life, let us carry on her legacy of love, and kindness, and honor her memory by cherishing our moments together. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
