Rita Joan Thibeault

Rita J. Thibeault, 81, of Sanford, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born one of 12 children on April 9, 1941, to the late John and Jeannette (Vir) Bacon in Sanford. She grew up in Springvale attending local schools graduating from Sanford High School in 1959. She was a lifelong resident of Sanford-Springvale with the exception of residing in Huntington Beach, CA for nearly ten years. Rita was employed at Sprague Electric for many years and most currently enjoyed her job and co-workers at the Home Fashions Outlet in Wells. Being a social person, Rita loved to spend time with her friends and family. She enjoyed taking rides to the beach, arts and crafts, and really loved shopping. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Rita was a selfless person, always thinking of others and she adored her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond Thibeault Sr., with whom she shared 35 years of marriage, siblings Claire Racicot, Mike Bacon, Dr. Paul Bacon, and Ronald Bacon. Survivors include her children Robert Thibeault and his wife Donna of Sanford, Gregory Thibeault of Scarborough, Michelle Ledoux of Sanford and Raymond Thibeault Jr., of Sanford, grand children Raelynn, Amy (Michael Claar) and Kaley Ledoux (Alex Eldridge) and Stephanie and Christopher Thibeault, three great grandchildren, Adalyn Claar and Nora and Leah Eldridge, her siblings Claudette Gray, Rachel Munroe, Reinette Palmitessa, Maurice Bacon, James Bacon, Judith Hayes and Terrence Bacon, as well as many nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave. Sanford with interment immediately following at St. Ignatius Cemetery, Sanford. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Tina and Mike from Hospice of Southern Maine and all the nurses and caregivers at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, for their exceptional and loving care.
