SANFORD—Roland “Jake” M. Jackson, 85, of Sanford, died Wednesday October 18, 2023 in Sanford.
He was born in Sanford January 21, 1938 the son of Roland M. and Eleanor (Walker) Jackson. Shortly after graduating from high school, Roland joined the Navy and spent three years there, including time on the USS Remey. After his discharge, Roland worked at Pioneer Plastics and later at Cyro until his retirement in 1985 after suffering a medical event. He volunteered at the soup kitchen from 1987-1990. He was a Life Member of the Elks Club and sang in the choir at Notre Dame church and Holy Family church. He enjoyed playing pool, going to bingo with his wife, getting together with the guys on Wednesday nights to watch Survivor, scratching lottery tickets, going for drives and taking his grandchildren where they needed to go. He started out every day by going out for breakfast to a local restaurant where everybody knew his name.
Roland was predeceased by his sister Patricia Carl and his brother, Richard Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marie (McDonald) Jackson; his children, Gregory Jackson and his wife Nancy of Falmouth, Mark Jackson of Sanford and Jody Spulick and her husband Douglas of Sanford; his grandchildren, Brittany Moreau of Sanford, Katie Spulick of Sanford, Haylie Spulick of Sanford, Corey Spulick of Sanford, Mariah Lazzara of Fitchburg MA, Casandrea Stuart of Falmouth; great-grandchildren, Michaela, McKenna, Kash, Spencer, Emmit, Aubrey and Zoey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford on Monday October 30th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale at 12:00 pm.

I met Jake when I was cooking at Jerry’s Diner years ago. I nicknamed him “Trouble” and he would say “you’re Trouble” to me. Dick and I were happy to see him when he was at Pinnacle. Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family. Blessings,
