Elizabeth K. Lindblad
Elizabeth (Betty) K. Lindblad, 95, of Springvale passed away on September 6, 2017, at Southern Maine Healthcare in Biddeford, after a brief illness. Born in Czechoslovakia on December 23, 1921, she immigrated to the United States in 1928, and lived with her parents (Paul and Betka Kisely) in New York City. After graduating from high school and attending secretarial school, she became employed by Brewster Aeronautics where she met and later married Herbert P. Lindblad.After the birth of their four children, Betty and Herb moved to Springvale, Maine, along with other Long Island families to build a new company called Colonial Aircraft which evolved into Aerofab, Inc. Over the years, Betty assisted her husband.Betty was active for many years with the Goodall Hospital Auxiliary activities, including "Christmas in July", the Hospital Thrift Shop, and the Books Revisited store in downtown Sanford.She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the world including highlights such as China, Russia, Australia, and Greece. Cruising was also a favorite pastime taking them to many countries and islands. Her passion included finding restaurants with fine dining wherever they traveled.Betty was predeceased by her husband, Herb, in 2010, after 67 years of marriage. She is survived by her loving children, Paul and Susan Lindblad of Plaistow, NH, Carol and Del Benway, of Tolland, CT, Betsy and Jim Appleby of Kennebunk, and Bill and Linda Lindblad of Bangor, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.In keeping with her wishes, a private memorial service is planned.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to please consider the Books Revisited Store, 882 Maine Street, Sanford, ME 04073, which benefits Home Health Visiting Nurses and Hospice.Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.To leave a message of condolence, please click condolence tab at left.
