Elizabeth "Jane" (Hemington) Holtby 84, of Acton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at her home, following a period of failing health. Jane was at home with her beloved husband of sixty-two years, Peter. Jane was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania on January 13,1935 Dr. David and Florence (Reid) Hemington. After graduating from Texas Christian University with a Degree of Bachelor of Science, Jane went to Glen Grove CA., where she and Peter met, married and started their family. While the children were still young, Peter and Jane moved to Merrywood Farm in Lebanon ME. Jane greatly enjoyed gardening, raising Hereford cattle, collecting eggs from chickens, cooking and spending time outdoors with her children and grandchildren on the farm. Jane was an avid quilter and is known for her lovingly hand-stitched quilts, many of which she made for family members and donated to various charities. Jane was very active in her church and community as a member of the Ladies' Missionary Society, Acton Rescue Squad, and a volunteer at Goodall Hospital. Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses: Be careful for nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:6-8 Jane was predeceased by her parents, her brother James Hemington and her daughter Debby Clark Survivors include her Husband Peter, her children David Holtby and wife Julianna of Woodford VA, Stephen Holtby and wife Sherrie of Lebanon Me. Her brothers John Hemington of CA., Jake Hemington of CA., fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her dog Kelley.
