Joyce M. Vachon

Joyce M. Vachon, 63, of Shapleigh, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a short bout with cancer. She was born on January 24, 1945 in Liverpool, England, a daughter of William and Madge (Parsons) Martin.On May 1st, 1965 she married David Vachon in England and moved to Shapleigh the following year. She worked at Normand's Five and Ten and then for many years worked at numerous local restaurants. She owned and operated Food for Thought restaurant in Springvale.She enjoyed going to yard sales and flea markets. Her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren's athletic events.She is predeceased by her parents.She is survived by her husband of 43 years, David R. Vachon of Shapleigh, one daughter, Tracy Adams and her husband, Paul Jr., of Shapleigh, three grandchildren, Colby Adams, Regan Adams and Nealey Adams of Shapleigh, two sisters, Audrey Wilkins of Wales, UK and Brenda Martin of Lansford,Pennsylvania, as well as several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be held on Thursday October 2nd from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.
