Sister Marie Cecile Trottier, Religious Hospitaller of St. Joseph, went to her eternal reward on Sunday, September 17, 2006 surrounded by the Sisters at Our Lady of Providence Convent in Winooski.She was born in Springvale on October 13, 1920, the daughter of Willie and Louise (Sevigny) Trottier and entered the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph at the Hotel Dieu convent in Arthabaska, Quebec on August 21, 1938. She was educated by the Ursuline Sisters at Mount Merici in Waterville and following her nursing education she served the sick in Arthabaska and in Biddeford in various capacities until her retirement. Her fondest memories were the many years she spent in the Biddeford and Saco area caring for the sick, the elderly and the poor and serving as Eucharistic minister and pastoral visitor for Most Holy Trinity Parish in Saco.Sister Cecile had an engaging, pleasant personality and sense of humor which made her a very congenial and interested pastoral visitor to the sick and the elderly in their homes. She loved classical music and looked forward to the seasonal concerts by the Portland Symphony. Her spontaneous grateful heart and the beauty of nature inspired her long hours of prayer and great devotion to the rosary for all the needs of the Church, especially families and priests.She was predeceased by her parents, by a brother Raymond Trottier and by a nephew Daniel L. Cote.Survivors include a sister, Alma Cote and her husband Paul of Springvale, a brother Dr. Louis Trottier and his wife Doris of Cape Coral, FL, 8 nephews, Bishop Michael Cote, Bishop of Norwich, CT, Mark Cote and his wife Terri of Springvale, Louis Cote and his wife Lynn of Tequesta, FL, William Trottier and his wife Nancy of Texas, Robert Trottier and his wife Denise of CT, Dr. Steven Trottier and his wife Mary of Columbia, IL, Louis Trottier, Jr. and his wife Elaine of MA, Christopher Trottier and his wifeAmanda of Cape Coral, FL, 4 nieces, Sue Sladen and her husband Mark of Saco, Ann Marie Flory and her husband Stanley of Voorhees, NJ, Arlene Gabor and her husband Steve of Cape Coral, FL, Caroline Kruses and her husband David of Cape Coral, FL, 13 grand nephews and nieces, 5 great grand nephews and nieces and her sisters in religion, the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph.A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Bishop Michael Cote on September 21 in the convent chapel in Winooski.
