Paul M. Rankin Sr returned to his heavenly home on September 13, 2016 following a long illness, with his family by his side. Paul was born On October 12, 1936 to the late Olive Jowett (Bragg) and was loved by his step-dad, Ralph L Jowett. Paul was raised on a farm in North Berwick with his mother, sister and brother where he learned many things that would be a part of his life and passed down to his children. Paul served and honored his country 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He spent 10 of the 20 years on board the Moale Distroyer. Paul met the love of his life in September 1973 and they married on December 8, 1973. They were married for 43 years and raised two children. Together they had many adventures, which included owning a ceramic shop, and two restaurants . They worked together from the beginning with Navy recruiting where Liz volunteered by his side to working in many restaurants and ended with their retirement later in life. He is predeceased by his mother, Olive Jowett (Bragg), his step-dad Ralph L. Jowett of Springvale ME, his brother Perry Rankin of Westbrook ME, his sister Lorraine Walsh (Rankin) and husband Irving of Springvale ME. He is survived by his loving wife Elizabeth A. Rankin (Darlington) of Shapleigh, ME. His Son Paul M. Rankin Jr. of Shapleigh, ME and his daugher Rebecca Place (Rankin) and husband Richard A. Place Jr. in Waterboro, ME. He leaves behind four grandchildren Jasmine E. Rouillard, Alexandria D. Rouillard and Maximus C. Place all of Waterboro, ME and Paul M. Rankin III from Ocala, Florida. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Services for Paul will be held at the Carll Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale, ME on Wednesday September 21, 2016 at 11am. An hour of visitation will begin at 10AM. Burial with military honors will follow at the Sanborn Cemetery.
