Ruth A. Pratt

Ruth Bissell Pratt - 62, of Lebanon, Maine, passed away and was released from a battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday night, March 20, 2010. Ruth was born in Melrose, MA, on September, 4, 1947, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (O'Connell) Bissell. Ruth grew up with siblings Richard, Joseph, John (Bud), and Jean Bissell. After graduating and exploring Ireland, Ruth married Robert Pratt and moved to Lebanon, ME, to raise a family. She and her husband raised their two children, Daniel & Timothy, amidst her beloved horses; a few cows, goats, ducks, and turkeys; and the ever-present family dogs and cats. Ruth's love of animals lead her into a career as a dog groomer, which happily continued through her entire working life. Later in life, Ruth trained and was certified as a nurse's assistant, working in a residential care home in New Hampshire. Also an avid gardener, Ruth cultivated vegetables, fruit, and flowers in the family's large yard. Once the boys were grown, Ruth took up hiking and it became her joy and sanctuary. She climbed every peak in the Belknap range and was proud to receive her AMC patch for hiking every 4000-footer in the White Mountain range.
