Merrill, 80, of Woods Edge, Alfred, Maine, died June 9, 2002 at his residence in Alfred.He was born in Prentis Maine on August 6, 1921, he was the son of Jesse A. and Dora (Chubbuck) Merrill, Sr., and attended schools there.Mr. Merrill was in the Infantry during WWII, where he trained in Hawaii for a year and a half.Mr. Merrill and his wife JuneAnn worked on their farm in Dexter for over twenty years. He then worked for a machine shop in Dexter for another twenty years.He was a very generous and caring neighbor. As an avid woodsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.M. Merrill is survived by his wife of 55 years, June Ann Merrill (Downs) of Alfred; sons, Philip A. Merrill of West Paris, Maine and Jeffrey J. Merrill of North Waterboro, Maine; four daughters Rosena R. Fern of Dexter, Maine, Christine L. Wescott of Roanoke, VA., Pauline E. Hughes of Corrina, Maine and Pamela J. Thomes of South Portland, Maine; 12 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren; two brothers Clinton Merrill of Provost, Utah and Jesse A. Merrill, Jr., of Utah; four sisters Eunice Lindsay of Lincoln, Maine, Leta Downs of Vancouver, Washington, Lois Emerson of Pittsfield, Maine and Shirley Cottrell of Utah; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by a sister Elnora Merrill.Funeral services will be held privately.
