Pamela Gianopoulos Kostis, 93, of Falmouth, dear mother and grandmother (yiayia) passed away following a brief illness on February 14, 2013 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born in Nashua, NH, on March 19, 1919, a daughter of the late Christos and Effie Gianopoulos.Pam was a strong woman who loved life, her husband, children and grandchildren. She was physically active and enjoyed many sports including bowling, skiing and most importantly playing golf. She was also artistic with a flair for designing and sewing her own clothes. She was a football enthusiast and loved watching the Patriots on T.V., hardly missing a game. In her final days she found joy in beating her family with marathon games of gin rummy. She will be greatly missed.She is predeceased by her husband, John P. Kostis, her sisters, Katherine Kereage, Georgette Kostis, Evelyn Metropolis and Artie Kalagias, her brothers, John Gianopoulos, Teddy Gianopoulos and Mannie Gianopoulos.She is survived by her son, Peter J. Kostis and his wife, Sandy of Paradise Valley, Arizona and Falmouth, her two daughters, Khristine Kostis and her husband, J. Douglas Mayer of Ogunquit and Janet Kostis-Test and her husband Sam also of Ogunquit, three grandchildren, John, Adam and Samantha as well as many nieces and nephews.A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 19th at 10AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Bradley Street, Saco.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in her memory to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Street, Scarborough, ME 04074 or to the American Cancer Society New England Division, 1 Bowdoin Mill Island Suite 300 Topsham, ME 04086.Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
