Carl R. Hanson
Carl R. Hanson, 68, of Waterboro, died on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.Carl was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on May 17, 1945 to Roland and Evelyn (Wall) Hanson. He grew up in Saugus where he attended local schools, graduating from Saugus High School in 1963. Following high school he attended Vesper George School of Art in Boston. After completing his studies he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country during Vietnam. When he finished his enlistment, Carl was employed at several small printing companies accepting a position at Combined Jewish Philanthropies in 1972. He worked there in the graphic arts and printing department until he retired in 2006. In 1981 Carl married Mary Anne Rich and together they shared 32 years of marriage. He and his wife relocated to Maine in 1994. He loved being outdoors and working around his house. He was an animal lover and was particularly fond of his dogs, cats and chickens. Carl will be remembered as a hard working and a loving and devoted husband and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.Carl was predeceased by his parents.Surviving are his wife, Mary Anne Hanson of Waterboro; three siblings, Eve Moynihan of North Reading, Massachusetts, Clare Dever of Gorham, Maine and James Hanson of Bonao, Dominican Republic; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Anne Rich of Revere, Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon with a funeral service following at 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 14th at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home located at 580 Main Street in Springvale. Interment will be at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Animal Welfare Society, Inc., P.O.
