Wendell J. Hamilton
Wendell J. Hamilton, Sr., 89, of Waterboro, passed away on Sunday August 26, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. At the time of his passing his wife and family were present. Wendell was born in Waterboro on September 25, 1917, the son of Wendell J. and Minnie Alice (George) Hamilton. He lived in New Hampshire for a short time but returned to his native Waterboro.He served stateside during WWII as a Private First Class in the 505th Service Squadron of the US Army. During his lifetime he worked at Limerick Yarn Mills and later made his living at woodworking for various firms.He loved spending time playing cards with family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion Post #155. Due to his love for country music he was a lifetime member of Down East Country Music Association, Pine Tree State Music Association and former member of Maine Country Music Association.He is predeceased by his daughter, Linda Eugley and son in law, Carl Eugley. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary (Valcourt) Hamilton and sons Wendell and Brenda Hamilton of Waterboro, Arthur Hamilton of Lebanon, and Larry Hamilton and friend Debbie Cone of Amity. He leaves 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Tuesday August 28 from 6 to 8pm at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1pm.
