Jean E. Guyon
Jean E. Guyon, 78, of Lebanon, died peacefully at her home on Friday, February 20, 2009.Jean was born in West Haven, CT on April 28, 1930 to Leo and Mae (Safford) Brunell. In 1946, her family moved to Foxboro, MA where she graduated from Foxboro High School in 1948. On September 16, 1951, Jean married Paul Guyon and together they raised three children. They moved to Irwin, PA where they stayed for approximately 15 years and then to Mansfield, CT and onto Chatham, MA where they settled in 1969. While living in Chatham, Jean worked as a restaurant hostess and then went to work for the town permit department in Chatham. In 2002, Jean moved to Lebanon, Maine so that she could be closer to family.Jean was a very happy and fun loving woman who always had a joke to tell or a story to share. She was the life of the party and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and always made it a point to feed anybody that came to visit her. Jean always related very well to young people. Whenever children would come to her house, they would always make it a point to go to Gram's "happy drawer" where she would keep candy and homemade treats. When she was younger, she enjoyed dressing as Santa Claus and would bring toys to children. Jean was an avid sports fan and was particularly fond of the Boston Red Sox. She was also a very artistic person and enjoyed painting. She was a member of the Red Hat Society where she enjoyed socializing with her many friends. Jean will be remembered as a kind and loving woman with a tremendous love for life. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Paul E. Guyon.Surviving are three children, Terry Murphy and her husband Mark of Columbia, SC, Cathy Nickerson and her husband Billy on Lebanon, ME and Doug Guyon of Waldorf, MD; four grandchildren; Kelley, Ryan, Kevin and Caroline; a sister, Mary Ouimet of Foxboro, MA, a brother, Larry Brunell of North Attleboro, MA and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, February 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with funeral prayers starting at 6:45 PM at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale, ME.
