Donald C. Day, 75, of East Waterboro, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 8, 2013. He was born in Hollis on May 14, 1937 a son of the late Chester and Grace ( Moore) Day. He was a graduate of Hollis High School.In 1955 he enlisted in the Air Force and served until his retirement as a Master Sergeant in 1992. Aside from his duties as Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard he enjoyed his own side business, Days Garage for many years.He collected antique autos. Aside from the antique autos he could drive he enjoyed collecting small scale versions as well as any auto memorabilia.He is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Grace as well as one son, Dwight, brother, Kenneth Day, brother in law, Gil Foley.He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia (Ginny) Swett Day, children, Doug McPherson and his wife Nancy, Derryl McPherson and his wife, Julie, Dennis Day, Dawn Drown and her husband Scott, Linda McPherson, sister, Barbara Foley, grandchildren, Christopher McPherson, Brandon McPherson and his wife, Kathy, Ben McPherson and fiance, Lea Goldstein, Bethany Gaudet and her husband, Ben, Sarah Day, Jessica Day, Matt Drown, Kaylee Drown and her fiance Mario Hale, Melanie Ellis and her husband, Rich, Sean Flanigan and his wife, Dana, great grandchildren, Darby Flannigan, Jaxan McPherson, James Gaudet, Bentley Hale, Lexus Dean, Kaleb Dean, Colin Flanigan, nephew, Craig Foley and his wife, Sally Spiers and their children, Alex and Sam.A funeral service will be on Tuesday at 1PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. Visiting hours will begin at 11AM until the time of the service.
