Jon C. Christensen

Jon C. Christensen, 63, of Springvale, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at his residence after a long illness.He was born on August 16, 1957 to Peter and Martha "Jane" (Lanphear) Christensen in Norwood, MA. After graduating high school, he moved to Southern California and attended the College of Redwoods. He then attended Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA where he earned his bachelor's degree in Resource Planning and Interpretations. During these years he began working in construction and quickly excelled in all aspects of building homes and structures of all sorts. He spent many years contracting and building projects in both public and federal architecture. He and his family moved to Maine to be near his parents and to start a new adventure. He was owner and operator of Shapleigh Marine and after 16 years sold his business and retired last summer. As a very young man, Jon met Dena Osborne in Palm Desert, CA who turned out to be the love of his life. Together, they had a daughter, Jennifer and the three of them were inseparable. On September 11, 1977 they were married in Reno, NV. The two have been best friends and partners for well over 40 years.He was a lifelong New England sports fan. He also loved his several German Shepherd dogs that he had over the years. Jon was an incredible, loving husband and father. He also had a very special bond and connection with his grandson.He was a big, brave, intelligent and strong man. His passion was providing and caring for his family which certainly succeeded. Jon was the center of his family's world and he will be dearly missed.He will be received with open arms by all of the loving family that went before him.Survivors include his wife Dena Christensen, of Springvale, his daughter Jennifer Christensen and her partner Paul Dickson of Springvale, his five year old grandson, Christopher Jon Dickson, his sister Lisa Wallace of Rhode Island, several nieces and nephews and friends.A celebration of life will be held at a later date.To leave a message of condolence click tab at left.
