David Carpenter, 75 of Springvale died Tuesday morning February 23rd after a long illness. David was born in Boston on May 23rd, 1934, the son of Arthur and Madonna Carpenter. He graduated from Needham High School in Massachusetts, and received a degree in business administration from Norwich University in Vermont. David served in the army reserves as a First Lieutenant. He was a co-owner of C&C/Taylor Rental from the late sixties to the mid seventies when he became a real estate broker with Davis Real Estate and later owned Carpenter Realty. During these years he served on the Board of Selectman for six terms. He served as chairman and co-chairman in his second and third terms. He was a former member of the Rotary Club and served on the YMCA and Dollars for Scholars boards. David ran for the Maine State Senate in 1988 and worked in that capacity for 12 years. The Utilities Committee, State and Local Government and the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee were all part of his duties in the Maine State Senate. David was proud to serve on the York County Commissioners board for four years before he retired.Dave was an avid sports enthusiast who played hockey, football and soccer in school. Later he enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing, along with tennis and golf. He also loved to hunt and fish.David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. David was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Madonna Carpenter and his step-mother Laura Woodland.David is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Nancy of Springvale, his three daughters Kimberlee Caron of Acton and her sons Konnor and Keegan, Donna Eldridge of Springvale and her sons Adam and Alex and Kristin Baltzley of Milton, NH.
