Daniel Chase Boothby of Parsonsfield, Maine passed away in Scarborough, Maine peacefully on October 16th, 2015 at the age of 93. He was born on May 30, 1922. Dan was one of five children born to Jesse and Christine (Hill) Boothby. Dan attended Parsonsfield schools where he excelled in local sports programs. He received his Undergraduate Degree in History and Government from Bates College, his Master's Degree in Education from the University of Maine and he worked on a Doctoral Degree in School Law at Boston University.Dan met and married his beloved wife, the late Mary Antoinette Buckley (Toni) of Fall River, Massachusetts in 1943. They were blessed with two daughters.Dan served honorably in the US Navy during WW II aboard the U.S.S Lough in the Pacific. After his discharge from the Navy, he pursued a career in education beginning in Alfred, Maine as the Principal and coach of Alfred High School. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to accept positions as Principal of schools in Maine, Massachusetts and Connecticut. He ended his career as Superintendent of Schools in Limestone, Maine. In 1970, Dan was selected for the honor of participating in an educational exchange program with Russia. While at Limestone, Dan was instrumental in securing funds to build what has since become the Maine School of Science and Mathematics. After retirement, he and his wife spent time between their homes in Parsonsfield and Lake Wales, Florida. They enjoyed golfing, lawn bowling, gardening, playing cards and bird watching. His daughters also kept him busy building and repairing their homes.Dan is survived by his daughters Linda Marsh of Parsonsfield, Maine and Deborah DuBois and husband, Douglas of Parsonsfield, Maine, his sister Barbara Price of Orange Park, Florida, his sisters-in-law, Ruth Boothby of Shapleigh, Maine and Margaret Newbury of Fall River, Massachusetts, his brother-in-law Charles Buckley and wife Lorraine of New Bedford, Massachusetts, his grandsons Christopher Sias and wife Laura of Vancouver B.C., Canada and their daughters, Hazel and Poppy and Caleb DuBois and wife Kim of North Yarmouth, Maine and their son, Oliver, his granddaughter Jessica DuBois of Sandwich, Massachusetts and her children Riley, Victoria and Jordan and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Jesse and Christine Boothby of Parsonsfield, Maine, his wife Toni Boothby of Parsonsfield, Maine, his brothers E. Harry Boothby of Shapleigh, Maine and Hilliard Boothby and wife Dorothea of Springvale, Maine and his sister Jessiell Newman and husband Herman of Jacksonville, Florida. The family would like to thank the personnel of the Maine Veteran's Home in Scarborough, Maine for the excellent service he received while in their care. Visiting hours will be on October 27 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale, Maine. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM. Interment with military honors at Maplewood Cemetery in Maplewood, Maine following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O.
