Matthew L. Balben

Matthew Lawrence Balben was born April 30, 1977 at the former Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, NH to Michele Swed and Lawrence Balben and passed peacefully in Scarborough, ME on December 4, 2020 after a lengthy battle with health issues.Matt was fun-loving, enjoyed the outdoors, was passionate about four-wheeling in his Jeep Wrangler "Black Widow", loved listening to country music and singing karaoke, and loved boating. Matt dreamed of starting a family and owning a home.Matt is survived by his grandmother Dolores Balben, his mother and father, older brother Craig Balben, younger brother Phil Balben, and younger sister Lauren Harrington, as well as three nieces and six nephews.Matt is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Pam and Phil Scott, grandfather Richard Balben, and cousin Eric Luciano.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Carll Heald & Black Funeral Home in Springvale, ME with a reception to follow at Matt's uncle, Steve Scott's residence in Limerick, ME.
